Apex 101 Tutorial Series

We’ve developed a number of simple tutorials to supplement the Help movies embedded within Apex. These tutorials are focused more on model build strategy and analysis techniques, rather than specific functions within the tool-set.

These provide both the new and experienced user a number of options for addressing real-world FEA problems. The initial set is based around the modelling and analysis of a variety of different structures, using various element types and includes an ‘end to end’ analysis for each model.

In addition to our generic Apex 101 tutorials, we have developed a series of Aerospace-focused tutorials, which highlight a number of key FEA strategies for complex air vehicle and associated structures.

This tutorial is focused on a number of aspects of composite modelling and FEA within Apex, specifically for Aerospace applications. Key stages include model build (2’15”), fastener automation (15’45”), composite part definition (19’46”) and laminate modification/optimisation (34’12”). This was originally presented as a webinar in conjunction with MSC Software.


Apex 101 for Aerospace Applications – Model Connection Strategies

This tutorial is focused on a number of aspects of the model connection definitions within Apex, specifically for Aerospace applications. Key stages include glued contact (2’31”), edge ties (22’11”), and fastener connections, including Python automation for the generation of hundreds of fasteners (39’21”). This was originally presented as a webinar in conjunction with MSC Software.


Apex 101 for Aerospace Applications – Idealization and Meshing

This tutorial is focused on a number of aspects of the model idealization and meshing techniques within Apex, specifically for Aerospace applications. Key stages include Stiffness and Load Path Model with 1D/2D elements (02:37), Joint and Stiffener Detail Model with 2D elements (13:20), Detailed Stress Model with 3D tet elements (26:41) and Hybrid Modeling Techniques with 3D hex elements (34:37). This was originally presented as a webinar in conjunction with MSC Software.
