Evotech have considerable experience in many types of FEA solution including linear/non-linear static, fatigue, dynamic, transient and impact analysis.

Evotech are able to provide clear guidance regarding which analysis type would be best suited to a particular application.

Evotech have delivered many onsite courses on all aspects of CAE from FEA fundamentals, effective modelling and practical software usage. Feedback regarding presentation and content has been well received and entirely positive.

In addition, Evotech’s position as MSC Apex Elite Partner allows us to introduce new clients to the Apex environment in the most efficient manner.

The bulk of Evotech’s client work is based on advanced FEA. We can assist with client strategy regarding the type and fidelity of model that will give the optimum balance between efficient solution, and appropriate detail.

Evotech have developed a wide range of FE models, ranging from simplistic definitions, through to ‘stress-converged’ representations for detailed down-stream analysis.

Evotech’s ‘CAD-to-mesh’ and pre-processing toolsets can interface with proprietary CAD data, translator formats or built directly using 2- and 3-D modelling. Likewise, we can export translator and STL data direct for input into down-stream CAD and AM processes.

Evotech are experts in the application of a wide variety of structural optimisation techniques, such as evolutionary, topology and sizing algorithms using commercial and proprietary codes. These techniques have been applied to many aerospace lightweighting programmes for metallic and composite structures, under static, fatigue and impact loading.

The development of Additive Manufacture has provided Evotech with many new and interesting avenues for product development and optimisation.

Evotech’s Lead FEA Engineer, Dr Steffan Evans, holds a Doctor of Engineering degree in Multi-Parameter Structural Optimisation.

Many of the lightweight structures Evotech have addressed involve significant use of composite materials. These are usually based on monolithic and honeycomb carbon structures, with the FE analysis model built to reflect detailed manufacturing guidelines.

Model output can be used to define composite lay-ups for optimum strength and weight, both for initial and detailed sizing. In addition, our toolsets allow for design and manufacturing support through the use of draping analysis, flat-patterning and ply-based definition.

These parameters can be used as design inputs for automated optimisation procedures.

Evotech have experience of developing bespoke automation solutions for all aspects of FEA model generation, verification and analysis. Much of this work has achieved substantial quality benefits and cost savings, compared with legacy processes.

Project examples of these include automated loads mapping, critical load case selection and batched job submittal and monitoring, based on industry-standard tools such as Python, PERL and VBA.

Evotech use the MSC Software product range and the MSC One License model to give access to many premium CAE products.

These include Apex and Patran (Model Build and Post-Processing), Nastran and Marc (Analysis Solvers and Optimisation) and Adams (Multi-Body Simulation).
